This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use the CalChamps mobile application and related services (the "Service").

If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Service.

1. Scope

This Policy applies to:

• The CalChamps iOS app
• Related CalChamps website pages, including legal pages
• Support and account-related communications

2. Who Can Use CalChamps

CalChamps is intended for adults and teenagers.

CalChamps is not intended for children under 13.

3. Important Notice

CalChamps is a wellness and fitness tracking service. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or emergency services.

4. Information We Collect

A. Account and Identity Information

• Email address
• First name
• Last name
• Authentication details (email/password or Google OAuth)
• Profile photo (if you upload one)

B. Health and Fitness Information

• Height and weight
• Weight logs and progress entries
• Food logs (manual, photo-based, and AI-assisted)
• Workout logs
• Nutrition and fitness goals
• Other wellness information you choose to enter

C. Apple Health Data (Optional)

If you enable Apple Health integration, we may read:

• Step count
• Body mass (weight)
• Workouts
• Active energy burned

We currently request read access for these categories and do not request write access.

D. User Content

• Meal photos and progress photos
• Text you enter (including meal descriptions)
• Bug reports and support messages
• Accountability/nudge messages

E. Device, Usage, and Diagnostics Data

• Device type, OS version, app version, build/version metadata
• Language/locale and basic app environment data
• App usage events and screen interactions
• Error diagnostics and crash-related data
• Notification subscription metadata

F. Subscription and Purchase Data

We use app-store subscription systems and service providers to manage subscription status. We do not collect or store full payment card numbers in CalChamps.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Deliver core tracking features (food, weight, workouts, hydration)
• Generate AI-powered nutrition and food insights
• Sync optional HealthKit data you authorize
• Provide reminders and notifications
• Enable accountability partner sharing features
• Operate, secure, and improve the Service
• Detect misuse, fraud, and abuse
• Provide support and respond to user reports
• Comply with legal obligations

6. AI and Automated Processing

CalChamps uses AI to support features like food-image analysis and nutrition estimation.

• We may send relevant inputs (for example, food image data and prompts) to third-party AI providers to generate results.
• We collect AI operation metadata (such as model, token usage, latency, and cost) for reliability and product operations.
• We do not use user content to train an internal CalChamps model.

7. Analytics and Tracking Technologies

We use mobile SDKs to understand app performance and usage (for example, analytics, diagnostics, and messaging tools).

8. How We Share Information

A. Service Providers (Processors)

We share data with vendors that help us operate the Service, including:

• Infrastructure/auth/storage providers
• Analytics and diagnostics providers
• Push/in-app messaging providers
• Subscription/paywall providers
• AI inference providers
• Operational support tooling

These providers process information on our behalf under contractual and technical controls.

B. Accountability Features

If you use partner/accountability features, we share the categories you choose (for example, food, weight, and workouts) with your connected partner(s).

C. Legal and Business Reasons

We may disclose information when required by law or legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

If CalChamps is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset transfer, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

9. Data Retention

We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes in this Policy, including legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, and security requirements.

General approach:

• Account and profile data: retained while account is active
• User logs/content: retained until deleted by you or account deletion processing
• Diagnostics/analytics records: retained per operational need and provider settings
• Backups: retained for limited continuity/security windows

If you request account deletion, we begin deletion processing and may need limited retention for legal/security obligations. Subscription cancellation is separate from account deletion and must be managed through your app-store account settings.

10. Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your data, including:

• Encrypted transport (HTTPS)
• Authentication and access controls
• Provider-level security controls for hosted infrastructure
• Operational monitoring and restricted internal access

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we continuously work to protect your information.

11. International Processing

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our vendors operate.

When required, we use appropriate contractual or legal safeguards for cross-border transfers.

12. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

In-app controls include:

• Editing profile/preferences
• Deleting specific logs
• Managing partner sharing scope
• Managing notification permissions
• Disconnecting optional integrations (like Apple Health)

13. California and Other U.S. State Privacy Disclosures

If applicable under U.S. state privacy laws (including California), you may have rights to know, delete, correct, and receive a copy of your data, and to appeal certain decisions.

CalChamps does not sell personal information for money.

CalChamps is not directed to children under 13.

If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and may provide additional notice (such as in-app notice or email, where appropriate).
